Despite the impact of COVID, our schools are very busy in Liberia and your continued support helps them to flourish. From basic help with maintaining health protocols, through to rebuilding school kitchens and finally, taking exams, it has been a busy time for our children.
The children have largely been back in schools since the turn of the year and over 80 of them have just enjoyed the schools very first “end of term outing”. A mix of educational visit, sports and a quiz which the children thoroughly enjoyed as you can see in these pictures.
The trip took the children to Tubmanburg, an area that has generated income for Liberia but which is also a strong reminder of Liberia’s troubled past.
You will see the Sean Devereux logo featuring prominently on the t shirts and sports kit, a visible testimony to your ongoing support.
Educating the children is our primary purpose but, as they say, “an army marches on its stomach”. So this year, some of the money we have raised at recent events has gone on refurbishing the school kitchen at Brewerville.
Exams are of course a right of passage and the children in Liberia have enjoyed excellent results in recent years. For these young people, education represents their best opportunity of improving their fortunes and that of their country. Of course, they enjoy all the credit for their diligence and application but, the financial support that we generate, increases their numbers and the quality of the education they receive. Finally, Sean would be delighted to see that sport still plays a vital role in the children’s education!
